1. Do not believe or rely on any person
There are no permanent friends in the workplace. People might sell you out when benefits and money are involved. Therefore, rely on no one and be independent, so that you can stand on your own two feet in every situation.
2. Try not to make mistakes, take the blame for your own faults
Although one might often be told to not be afraid of making mistakes, and have courage to explore, still the company is not a charity. Companies will not tolerate much mistakes, so learn fast and admit one’s fault.
3. Do not be petty
Don’t abuse company’s benefits to gain small personal gains, it will not be worth it in the long run.
4. Do not get drunk
Getting drunk and making a fool of yourself during a meet up with client is not the wisest thing to do.
5. Never bad-mouth anyone
There are many ways to release your negative emotions towards someone, but bad-mouthing a person who works in the same company as you will only bring you more harm than joy, eventually.
6. Have more than one method to relieve stress
There are a lot of stress relieve methods for one to choose, and the effects varies among different methods. Finding the root cause of one’s stress and solving the problem is the most effective method.
7. Colleagues are not necessarily your friends
Many naively believe that colleagues are friends, but it’s simply a result of people coming together for individual gains. It is a good thing to offer help to people in need, especially if a person is your colleague. However, always provide help that is within your capabilities.
8. Take good care your health
It’s just a job, never comprise health and sleep for it.
9. Aim to gain experience
Most people are underpaid, so gain as much experience as you can. Strive for promotions, with the knowledge and experience you have gotten.
10. Learn to use charts in analysing problems
There are many tools that can help you to think critically and increase efficiency, such as mind maps, Excel sheets and Project.
