Household Things You Must Have If You’re 30 Years Old And Above.
If you’re pushing 30 or more and you’re living in your own house that you’ve bought or rented for the long term, it’s time to truly become an adult and put away all the things you had as a college student. It’s also time to think about seriously buying furniture for yourself to be kept for the long term.

Also since you’re earning more since your student days, you should be considering channeling some into your household upgrading fund and spend more time in the household section of the malls. These are some aspects you can consider improving in your 30s:

• Get frames for all your pictures or posters

Gone are the days when you stick up posters of your favourite stars on the wall with double sided tape or blue tack. If you want to keep those posters, get them nicely framed with custom made wooden frames. Otherwise consider getting properly framed artworks.

• Buy a matching set of bowls and plates

Settling down and maturing means getting enough plates for when you have visitors or guests around. This should be the norm especially if you have a family so that the table setting looks congruous. This will also ensure that your guests don’t eat out of paper plates and use plastic forks and spoons when they come over.

• Sleep on a bed

Buy yourself a bed frame and stop sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Mattresses placed on the floor tend to gather moisture at the bottom and be a place for fungus and bacteria to grow. Sleeping on a bed is more hygienic and better for posture when getting up.

• No more temporary furniture

Things like roll up futons, cheap plastic toilet racks and makeshift stools should no longer be the central piece in your home. Invest in proper furniture you can keep forever.

• Hang curtains on your windows

Curtains give you privacy and shield you from the heat of the sun. You shouldn’t cover your windows with magazine pages or newspapers anymore, or hang your clothing as window covers. There are ready made curtains available in supermarkets nowadays for affordable prices so hanging proper curtains are no excuse.

• Get some real plants

Plants keep your household healthy and happy, so get some real plants as decorations. Avoid plastic plants as they just collect dust and make your house look fake.

• Buy bathroom accessories that aren’t from the 1.99 shop

It’s time to get a full set of soap dispensers, toothbrush holders and soap dishes that aren’t made of plastic. All your towels should also be fluffy and thick and shouldn’t come from the dollar store.
