White is a pretty common colour for interior decorating as it provides a neutral background for colour coordinating any room in the house, from the living room to the kitchen. White however, is one of the fastest colours to get dirty and stained. These stains are very challenging to remove totally from carpets and upholstery.

White furniture also tends to become yellowish after long periods of time. So how do you save your old white leather or PVC sofa or chair without having to throw the whole piece out? Here are four ingenious ways to make your white furniture look brand new again.

1. Tea Bags

Soak a tea bag in some warm water and then place the damp teabag onto a clean towel. Let the warm tea absorb through the cloth and then wipe your white PVC or leather upholstery with it. Let the layer of tea sit on the sofa for about half an hour and then wipe it off with another clean, wet rag.

2. Toothpaste

With your fingers, rub some toothpaste on the furniture and leave it on for some time. After that, wipe off the toothpaste with a damp rag. Make sure you remove all the toothpaste as they may be caught in the textured surface of your leather or PVC.

3. White Vinegar

Mix one part water and one part white vinegar. Soak a rag or sponge with this mixture and rub it over your furniture, letting it stand for 15minutes. After that, wipe the vinegar off with a damp towel for a sparklingly bright and white piece of furniture.

4. Milk

Mix equal parts of milk and water. Dip a clean rag into this mixture and press it to the stain or area you want to clean, allowing the liquid to penetrate through the stain. Rub the area in a circular motion until the stain disappears, then wipe the excess milk away with a damp cloth. After that, use a dry cloth to wipe any excess moisture and treat the area with a leather conditioner.
