GEORGE TOWN: The property-related and construction sectors are expected to fare better in the Year of the Fire Rooster based on the five Chinese elements doctrine.

Feng Shui master Mak Foo Wengg said as “fire” strengthens “earth”, there would be a strong showing in the property-related sector starting from the second half of the year.

The other three Chinese elements are wood, metal and water.

“People will start buying properties then. There is a bright side to this.

“Right now, those in this industry are facing challenging times,” he said during an interview at The Star Northern Hub yesterday.

He said the food and beverage industry, which is related to “fire”, would also do fairly well.

Mak also foresaw the price of crude oil increasing from its current US$53 (RM237) per barrel.

Malaysian Institute of Geomancy Sciences president Prof Joe Choo said the country’s economy would begin well in the first three months of the Lunar calendar.

“It used to be priced at US$120 (RM538) per barrel before it dropped to about US$40 (RM179) to US$50 (RM224) per barrel now.

“Go into the share market and invest in companies with such businesses,” he said.

Mak said the li chun (beginning of spring) would fall at 11.34pm on Feb 3.

He said people would always deposit money into their bank accounts to symbolise “wealth abundance” on this day.

“My advice is, bank in your money only on the next day between 7am to 11am as the beginning of spring is too close to midnight.

“You can just go to any cash deposit machines for the “ritual” which symbolises money coming in on the first day of spring,” he said.

Mak said those born in the year of Dragon, Snake and Ox could expect career advancement and make a fortune out of business investment.

“If you plan to have weddings, go ahead. They can also plan to have babies this year,” he said.

Those born in the year of Rooster, Rabbit and Dog, said Mak, would have a challenging year ahead after going against the Grand Duke of Jupiter (Tai Sui).

“Do not make any investment involving big amount of money. Stay calm throughout the entire year.

“Try to go for blood donation or dental treatment after Feb 4 (li chun). ‘Bleeding’ can help avert misfortune,” he said.

She said those involved in the agriculture and property management (property agency and retail business) sectors would do exceptionally well.

“The property market is expected to pick up in the second half of the year, as the energy of the Kua has been solidified and ready to be transformed into action,” she said.

Prof Choo said other professions expected to do well included those in the oil and gas industry, information technology, telecommunications and electrical and electronic sectors.

She said those born in the year of Rooster and Rabbit would be susceptible to negative events.

“These people tend to have minor problems, like quarrelling with their loved ones, or become victims of snatch theft and receiving traffic summonses.

“They have to be careful on the roads. Don’t get agitated easily and stay alert all the time.

“They also have to watch their diets as they can fall sick easily,” she said.
