KLANG Municipal Council (MPK) collected RM170.95mil in assessments as of November, a 2% increase compared to the same period last year when the municipality collected RM167.26mil.

MPK Corporate Communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said the increase was equivalent to RM3.69mil.

“Our officers are going on an aggressive campaign to bring in the assessments.

“Owners of commercial and residential properties are being reminded to settle their assessments on time,” she said.

“Commercial lots have increased, which means we get more revenue from assessment.

“We have a complete database of commercial and residential properties and the council will issue letters to those with a past due balance to pay up,” Norfiza said after visiting shop owners in Jalan Tengku Kelana in south Klang.

She said assessment bills for the first half of 2018 had been sent out.

“We advise property owners to settle the assessments on or before Feb 28 next year in order to avoid a late penalty charge of RM20.”
