Government Denies Increasing Price Of PR1MA Houses
KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- The government has never increased the ceiling price for PR1MA houses to RM450,000, as claimed by some parties, the Dewan Rakyat was told Thursday.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said the price of those houses remained between RM100,000 to RM400,000 a unit.

The price of houses remain at between RM100,000 to RM400,000, depending on the location of the project.

"PR1MA has never made a decision to revise the range of prices, and considering the earnings of the middle-income group, will ensure that the price of houses do not exceed the maximum amount," he stressed.

Shahidan was replying to a question by Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) who wanted to know the rationale for the increase in the ceiling price of PR1MA houses to RM450,000, and the percentage of PR1MA houses in that category.

According to the minister, a total of 160,534 units of PR1MA houses had been approved by PR1MA Corporation Malaysia (PR1MA) for construction nationwide, which included Penang (25,879 units), Sabah (12,644) and Sarawak (8,347).

Replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim (BN-Kuala Selangor) on the government's transparency in giving land to developers to reduce the cost of building PR1MA houses, Shahidan said PR1MA always consulted the state governments on this.

In fact, he said, with the cooperation of the state governments, including Perlis, Kedah, Selangor and Penang, the price of PRIMA houses in these states could be reduced.
