30 Jun 2015
PUTRAJAYA, June 30 (Bernama) -- The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKLW) has targeted to repair 1,818 more houses of flood victims before the end of August.
Its minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the number was part of 2,785 houses which were listed by the National Security Council (MKN) for KKLW's action.
From the MKN list, we have conducted a review and found only 2,075 houses which are eligible to receive a repair aid of RM10,000.
"To date, we have repaired 391 houses while the balance of 710 houses given by MKN are still in the verification process,"he said when launching KKLW's breaking of the fast with orphans at the Institute For Rural Advancement in Bangi, near here, Tuesday.
Mohd Shafie said, towards this end, the ministry was given an additional allocation of RM20 million from the National Disaster Fund.
He said the second phase of the repair was made after the government decided that all houses which were declared damaged by MKN qualified to receive a repair allocation compared to limiting it to only insured homes, prior to this.
In the meantime, Mohd Shafie said, 3,681 houses of flood victims involving Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Perak had been repaired under the first phase.
The number was part of 6,693 houses which had been listed at the early stage to be repaired, he said.
During the ceremony, Mohd Shafie handed over RM13,000.00 in Hari Raya contributions to 102 orphans from four welfare homes around Selangor.
