Tropicana Corp unveils industrial park in Iskandar Malaysia
PETALING JAYA (Dec 20): Tropicana Corp Bhd unveiled its first industrial park during a ground- breaking ceremony in Iskandar Malaysia, officiated by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad recently. The 1,188-acre industrial park is the only centralised industrial park in the district.
According to a statement on Monday (Dec 20), Tropicana Corp group chief executive officer Lee Han Ming said it was an honour to have the Johor menteri besar officiating the event.
“Tropicana Industrial Park is situated in a prime location and enjoys unparalleled connectivity. Investors will be pleased to know that we provide a whole host of infrastructure, conveniences, and facilities. We are confident the plots will see swift take-up,” Lee added.
Hasni said the 2,217 sq km of Iskandar Malaysia has been an important economic corridor for the country since its inception in 2006.
“It focuses on holistic and comprehensive growth, balancing economic prosperity, quality living, and sustainability. Its development is guided by the Comprehensive Development Plan and the Circle of Sustainability and planned, promoted and facilitated by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).“
Electrical and electronics, petroleum and oleo-chemical, food and agro-processing, logistics, tourism, creative, healthcare, education, and financial and business processes are the region’s nine promoted sectors. We aim to achieve a population of three million and RM383 billion in cumulative investment by 2025. I am pleased [that] Tropicana Industrial Park will help the state government achieve our targets and contribute to an investment-friendly environment,” Hasni added.
Priced at RM67 psf, Tropicana Industrial Park will comprise eight phases with plots of between one and three acres ready for sale, for light and medium industries. The industrial park is located 7km from Pekan Nenas, 12km from the Pontian town centre, 24km from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, and 34km from the Senai International Airport.
Some of Tropicana Industrial Park’s amenities, facilities and infrastructure include comprehensive road and drainage, reservoirs and water supply networks, a centralised sewage treatment plant complete with sewerage reticulation, high-speed fibre optic services, dormitories with 18,000 beds, an accumulative size of 10-acre industrial facilities depot to support the overall development and operation of the industrial park, a recreational park with landscape design for outdoor activities, as well as a recreational lake next to the park, with a jogging and cycling track.
Tropicana also offers business support services to prospective and future occupants of the industrial park, including the setting up of business registration, guidance on approval of licences, planning and design of industrial space, manpower recruitment, accommodation for the workforce, workplace safety procedures, assistance on internet services, customisation of factory, assistance on government incentives, as well as connecting with local and foreign business associations, chambers of commerce, and national authorities such as Ministry of International Trade and Industry and Malaysian Investment Development Authority.
