Housing in many developing areas of Malaysia, such as Klang Valley, has evolved to accommodate a variety of factors that can improve residents' livelihoods.

Landscape design, in addition to location, layout, and amenities, has become a deciding factor for housing developments.

IJM Land, one of Malaysia's leading property developers, is dedicated to constructing more sustainable communities with a strong emphasis on landscape.

Sierra Hijauan was launched by the developer in Sierra Ukay, Ampang, and the project has attracted a large number of buyers due to its seamless integration of modern homes and Mother Nature.

Sierra Hijauan is a landed resort-style residential development with clubhouse facilities fronting a forested valley and surrounded by exclusive greenery.

The landscape encompasses many elements, including plants and soil, water bodies, spatial configuration, and design, as an essential part of the 32.77-acre residential area and environment.

The exquisitely landscaped gardens and green area, which make up 21 per cent of the entire development, are one aspect of the development that captivates aspiring homebuyers and residents.

The landscape design was created with imagination and practicality, and it includes a few main highlights, such as the Canal stream with walkways and bridges accompanied by the soothing sounds of cascading water.

The landscaping is completed with a variety of vegetation, including blooming flowers along footpaths and a swimming pool that leads to a floating pavilion.

"Landscape design has been an essential component of residential developments not just in Malaysia, but globally as well. Besides appealing to people's visual needs, it serves as an important aspect that helps cultivate a sustainable environment and community. With that, we hope that our efforts in landscape design in all of our housing projects can encourage communities to integrate, socialise and become a tight-knit community," said Datuk Hoo Kim See, senior general manager (central region) of IJM Land.

Another key factor to building a thriving and sustainable community is safety, he said.
