Setia City Mall completes its expansion with an all-new, exciting experience
Setia City Mall, Shah Alam's largest shopping and leisure destination, recently completed expansion works and now has 1.18 million square feet of retail space housing 17 major retailers as well as over 280 local and international retailers.
The expansion improved the tenant mix and facilities, providing patrons with a broader range of fashion, dining, leisure, and entertainment options, resulting in an all-new, fresh experience.
"Setia Alam township has matured tremendously since its launch in 2004. Today it is 22,000 households strong with about 90,000 residents. The mall has also grown in tandem with the lifestyle demands of the enlarged communities, and we believe this milestone is just one of the many that the mall will achieve in the years to come," said Datuk Tan Hon Lim, executive vice-president of S P Setia.
Setia City Mall, which opened in 2012, is located in Setia Alam's southern corridor. It is a collaboration between S P Setia Bhd and the Asian Retail Investment Fund managed by Lendlease (ARIF).
The mall, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month, has drawn not only the Setia Alam community but has also proven to be the mall of choice for Klang Valley residents.
The newly expanded Setia City Mall, which is growing in tandem with the thriving townships surrounding Setia Alam, is expected to attract about 20 million visitors per year.
Tan said that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed consumer behaviour over the last two years.
This has resulted in mall operators and retailers having to re-strategise their business models, change the structures, re-assess the mix of their tenants, and incorporate online services to drive their business into the new normal, he said.
"This means moving forward, malls will need to provide a truly omnichannel experience. Brick-and-mortar outlets will need to adopt elements of the online experience besides the physical stores taking cognisance of the adoption of artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, and augmented reality as part of their business sustainability," Tan said.
Tan said the mall's true value is measured by the support it has from the retailers and patrons.
Meanwhile, according to Mitchell Wilson, project director, The Exchange TRX and head of retail, Lendlease Malaysia, the growth and expansion of Setia City Mall in the past 10-sational years is fuelled by its strong commitment and support as it evolved to anticipate and meet changing needs.
"This certainly would not have been possible without our retailers, shareholders, and employees who have steadfastly committed to giving our patrons; great times, inside and out," Wilson said.
Tenants such as Parkson, Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Padini, Cotton On, Urbanfresh, Harvey Norman, Fitness First, and Golden Screen Cinemas who have been with the mall since it opened in 2012 were recognised for their commitment and support in making Setia City Mall the holistic lifestyle destination that it is.
In tandem with Setia City Mall's 10th-anniversary celebration this month, visitors to the mall stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes worth up to RM50,000 when they spend RM380 in two or one same-day receipts, receive special jersey and mug gifts with purchase and Happy Treats for children of I Love SCM members.
Mall patrons are also encouraged to take part in the "Show Us Your Move Contest" to celebrate the mall's tenth anniversary with their dance moves.
One of the highlights of the 10sational celebration is the Setia City Mall Run on July 30 to bring the community together.
Visitors can also enjoy hot air balloon rides for an exciting bird's eye view of the Setia Alam township while living up to Setia City Mall's ethos of great times inside and out.
