Lagenda Properties will collaborate with BDB to build its first township in Kedah
Lagenda Properties Bhd and Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) will develop a new affordable township, aptly named Darulaman Lagenda, in Sungai Petani, Kedah, with a focus on sustainable quality living.

Darulaman Lagenda will be the largest affordable township in Kedah, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM593 million and the construction of more than 2,500 landed affordable dwellings.

Tan Sri Dr. Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin, the company's chairman, said that the township is aimed at satisfying the existing need for cheap homes among low and middle-income households, as well as achieving Lagenda Properties' 'One Family One Home' goals.

"Future affordable housing development should be tailored towards townships that enable homeowners to enjoy the quality and communal living experience. Lagenda Properties, with our pricing strategy and lifestyle focus, is committed to delivering our strategic and sustainable plan.

"This will positively contribute towards the 12th Malaysian Plan spearheaded by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government to deliver 500,000 affordable homes, benefitting the underserved community," he said in a statement.

The township is divided into three parts, the first of which includes 282 units.

All units will be landed properties with prices starting at less than RM250,000 per unit.

Both Lagenda and BDB held a groundbreaking celebration in the township last week, led by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

"Homeownership has been a constant challenge faced by all Malaysians. This is why in developing our homes, it is our utmost priority to reverse engineer our process to ensure that our prices match what the people can afford.

"Moving beyond Perak into Kedah is a timely and strategic move for us as we see more and more people in Kedah struggling to afford a home to call their own. With our expertise in affordable development, and BDB's strength in Kedah, we are confident that this is just the first step in alleviating or at least mitigating somewhat the affordability crisis in the surrounding area," said Lagenda Properties' managing director, Datuk Jimmy Doh.

Doh said that Lagenda Properties adds value to its townships by focusing on sustainability in all of its developments.

According to him, the company's townships are always strategically positioned, spacious, and eco-consciously constructed to provide abundant green spaces and community areas that appeal to diverse age groups, and are equipped with all the required amenities for great living.

"Backed by homes with a quality build, our townships include facilities such as clubhouses, football fields, badminton courts, swimming pool, cycling, and jogging tracks, giving a quality of life to our buyers not usually attainable at this price point," he said.
