Perak plans to build four new people's housing projects
The Perak government plans to build four new People's Housing Projects (PPR) to help low-income people and displaced squatters to stay at a comfortable and affordable home, the state legislative assembly was told today.

State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching said to date, there were 16 PPR projects comprising 2,876 house units throughout the state.

"We have received 1,378 applications for PPR homes this year and most of them have to be put on the waiting list for now.

"The state government through the Perak Housing and Property Board has proposed four sites for the construction of PPR to the (local government development) ministry. We all hope that these applications will be approved soon to help more people get a PPR house," she said.

Ng said that in addition to the federal government's injection, the state government also seeks the cooperation of the private sector in the PPR projects so that people can pay house rent at a low rate not only in the city but also in the villages. - Bernama
