KTC uses cloud tech for initiatives involving smart cities
KTC Arkz Group Sdn Bhd plans to deploy cloud technology (tech) for its high-rise "smart-cities" high-rise projects to keep up with the growing demand for cutting-edge technological applications.

Memphes Chong, the company's chief project officer, said that situating its development projects next to existing institutions and colleges, it will help foster an environment that is favourable for academic research and business ventures by investors with a focus on technology.

According to him, KTC intended to generate an interesting lifestyle for Generations Y and Z in the high-rise buildings since these places would offer a favourable ecosystem for activities including research into automobile technology, digital apps, shopping platforms, and entertainment. The niche property-based company has signed a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) with a technology-solutions multinational firm to instal tech-based facilities for working professionals, business owners, investors, and academia at its development projects, reported Bernama.

According to Chong, KTC chose to embrace cloud tech because it would allow customers to have access to a multitude of fresh experiences and knowledge.

He said that industries must digitalise their company operations to become more efficient.

Chong said the MoC would allow the parties to jointly develop and implement a variety of cloud-based digital solutions for cutting-edge services and experiences for a cutting-edge technology ecosystem in projects that the company has earmarked, particularly in Perak and Selangor.

"Work should begin later this year once the details are finalised because we want technology to be at the forefront of our projects," Chong said.

KTC's chief executive officer, Chong Khin Thin, said that the company's emphasis on cloud tech was driven by its conviction that future development projects would need to satisfy the expectations of the younger generation, which is currently demanding better facilities for their daily lives and business operations.

"We have to move with the times because that is what young people are demanding – better tech facilities, not just buildings," he said.
