KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen of the 1Malaysia Housing Programme's (PR1MA) projects have been found to still be abandoned.

Deputy Local Government Development Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said, the 13 projects are among the 22 in the country that have either not yet received a certificate of completion and compliance (CCC) or are still in the building phase.

According to the Johor Bahru Member of Parliament (MP), Sabah has five abandoned PR1MA projects, Melaka has three, and Selangor, Penang, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, and Kelantan each have two.

He said in Dewan Rakyat on June 14 that Johor and the Federal Territory each have one abandoned project.

He was responding to a query from Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden about the number of PR1MA housing projects that have not yet been handed over to buyers.

According to Akmal Nasrullah, the ministry has recovered nine abandoned projects in less than six months out of the 21 abandoned PR1MA projects the unity government inherited from the previous administration.

The ministry hopes to recoup the remaining abandoned PR1MA projects by the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah said that four PR1MA projects have not yet been handed over, while 54 have been completed and awarded a CCC.

He added that although a project's construction is considered complete once it receives a CCC, it must still go through inspection and repair work to fix any flaws before being handed over.
