KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Property Bhd said that it is currently reviewing the proposed Tiara Residence development in Bukit Jelutong.

The proposed development comprises comprise 425 housing units, to be constructed on the last field in the Bukit Jelutong area.

Last week, over 1,000 residents of Bukit Jelutong held a rally to oppose the construction.

They are urging Sime Darby Property and the local authority not to proceed with the construction of the housing units.

In a statement, the developer acknowledged its responsibilities in this matter and expressed its commitment to exploring all possible avenues for solutions with the best interests of all parties involved in mind.

"Sime Darby Property acknowledges and appreciates the feedback from residents of Bukit Jelutong and takes heed of their valuable input on the development of Tiara Residence," it said.

The company acknowledges that this requires careful planning and thoughtful action, and it remains committed to this path.

According to the company, concerned residents and stakeholders will be consulted as part of this process.

The developer has extended an invitation to the Bukit Jelutong Residents' Association (BJRA) for an engagement session to collaboratively explore viable resolutions.

BJRA chairman Zien Hashim had highlighted the community's desire to safeguard the green space, as it has been a local recreational area for the past 30 years.

According to reports, he said that Bukit Jelutong was supposed to have its own clubhouse as per the original master plan, but as of right now, it hasn't been constructed and its site has been altered to a row of shops.
