Felda's second generation settlers show financial progress, upward mobility: Encorp CEO
KUALA LUMPUR: There is a growing number of cash buyers for affordable housing, reflecting the financial progress and upward mobility of Felda's second generation settlers.

This indicates that the community has significantly improved its economic status and can now afford to invest in quality housing, said Hazurin Harun, group chief executive officer of Encorp Bhd.

Hazurin highlighted the economic progress within the Felda community after handing over keys for the first phase of Encorp's latest project, Lamanda Chuping in Perlis.

Phase 1 of the development includes 224 units of low- to medium-cost single-storey homes (low cost: RM80,000; medium-cost: from RM230,000), 17 commercial units (priced from RM480,000) and a petrol station.

"It is a proud moment for us as developers and for the Felda community, reflecting the success of our combined efforts to improve living standards and provide better opportunities for future generations," he added.

Lamanda Chuping, a joint venture project with Felda, is part of the "Perumahan Warga Felda" programme initiated by the government to meet the growing demand for affordable homes among Felda's second-generation families.

The project received the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) in April 2024.

Hazurin noted that the key handover marks the beginning of a new chapter for Lamanda Chuping, which is set to become a thriving and integrated part of the Felda and Chuping communities.

"We are thrilled to create vibrant and connected communities. Over the past several months, we have organised a range of community activities at Lamanda Chuping. These community-driven initiatives have fostered engagement and laid the foundation for a strong, supportive environment." he said.

He added that Lamanda Chuping highlights Encorp's dedication to providing high-quality, affordable housing solutions and contributing to national housing needs.

Phase 2 of the project will focus on developing 13 commercial lots, 270 low- to medium-cost residential units and a recreational area.
