State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi said the scheme, via the cooperation of the state government and Ambank Islamic Berhad, was a pro active initiative by the state government to support aspirations to own affordable houses in Johor.

"Through this scheme, Ambank Islamic Berhad will provide funds totalling RM300 million to ensure the target group in the state obtained financing for their houses," he said at the Johor state legislative assembly sitting here today.

Abdul Latif was replying to questions from Puan Sri Azizah Zakaria (BN-Parit Raja), Datuk Dr Adham Baba (Pasir Raja) and Datuk Ir Syed Sis Syed A.Rahman (Tanjung Surat) relating to the difficulties faced by Johor affordable house applications to get loans from banks that imposed strict requirement despite receiving an eligible affordable housing certificates from the Housing Division of the Johor State Secretary.

According to Abdul Latif, the scheme was the brainchild of Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin when launching the Bumiputera Property carnival in June.

He said the launch of the scheme was then announced by Mohamed Khaled when tabling the 2016 Johor Budget on Thursday.

The initiative assists the target group to obtain affordable housing financing, particularly Package A type of houses, priced at RM42,000, and Package B at RM80,000.
