KTMB launching 12 new services, offers discounts

Starting on Monday, Jan 18, KTM Bhd (KTMB) will introduce 12 new services under its electric train service (ETS) to meet the demand of passengers, besides offering 25% discount on fares for passengers on certain trains.
In a statement yesterday, KTMB said seven new daily services would be introduced for the Gold Class – four trips from Ipoh to KL Sentral (to depart at 7.30am and arrive at 9.50am); Butterworth to KL Sentral (depart 3pm and arrive 6.52pm); and two trips from KL Sentral to Butterworth (depart 9.15am and arrive 1.07pm/depart 8pm and arrive 11.52pm).
For the Platinum Class, three new daily services would be introduced – three trips from Butterworth to KL Sentral (depart 5am and arrive 8.35am); Padang Besar to KL Sentral (depart 9.30am and arrive 2.25pm); and KL Sentral to Padang Besar (depart 11am and arrive 3.55pm).
KTMB would also introduce additional serviced from Monday to Thursday, namely for the Gold Class trip from KL Sentral to Ipoh which will depart at 5.30pm and arrive at 7.50pm.
Evening trips from Friday to Sunday would also be introduced for the Gold Class – from KL Sentral to Ipoh (depart at 11.40pm and arrive 2am); KL Sentral to Butterworth (depart 5.30pm and arrive 9.30pm); Padang Besar to KL Sentral (depart 5.15pm and arrive 11.05pm); and Butterworth to Ipoh (depart 9.45pm and arrive 11.24pm).
All tickets for the new services are available from today.
Meanwhile, KTMB will also give a 25% discount on ETS ticket fares for adult passengers from Jan 18 to 30.
The discount is for the Platinum Class ticket from Butterworth to KL Sentral, which will be sold at RM62 (original price RM79); Bukit Mertajam to KL Sentral at RM60 (original price RM77); and Nibong Tebal to KL Sentral at RM57 (original price RM73)."
