A suspicious looking package was found at KLCC where it was revealed to contain two bombs.

The bombs were located outside Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre which were made from two glass bottles.

The apparent home made explosive devices were found by a passerby who then alerted the police. Patrons who gathered around the Plenary hall to attend Richard Marx’s concert were asked to leave the venue and evacuate as quickly as possible for their own safety.

According to Malaysian Digest, the items were found at the basement car park area.

Malaysia Kini reports that the Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Fuad Omar assured that the explosives were successfully detonated by a robot handled by the police bomb squad at about 7.45pm.

Malaysia Kini also said that the two bombs have been safely detonated.

It was mentioned that a press conference is expected to be held soon as to speak of this country threatening incident.

**UPDATE: False alarm! Police destroyed two glass bottles that caused a brief panic among Malaysians which were actually souvenirs belonged to students who visited Petrosains.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that the souvenirs were converted into “experimental lamps” by the students and left outside of the iconic mall.

The bottles were found by a cleaner about 5pm which alerted security, which in turn called the authorities.

“The area was cordoned off at around 6pm.

A bomb squad arrived at the scene 35 minutes later while the canine unit came some several minutes after that.

Five fire trucks were also deployed to the scene,” he said.

City police chief Comm Datuk Tajudin Md Isa said the suspected explosive was destroyed by a bomb squad team later.

However it turns out only to be a false alarm so Malaysians can safely go to sleep tonight.
