Federal Govt Will Have To Discuss With Developers To Decide Prices Of Affordable Homes - Zambry

The federal government will have to discuss with housing developers the prices of affordable homes to be offered to the people, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said the bilateral discussions also included how the houses could be built at affordable prices especially for the low and medium-income earners.
"The prices of affordable homes vary, previously we could buy for RM30,000 but the prices later increased.
"That's why from time to time the government has to review (on the pricing), while at the same time we have to protect the house buyers as well. That's why we need to have collaborations and understanding between the government and the developers.
"We want them to also understand the demand and needs of the people in Perak. The right price we need to impose," he said at a media conference after launching the 'Ipoh Premier City' (IPC) housing project, here Saturday.
Meanwhile, Zambry said the state government would continue with the construction of affordable homes in the state to fulfill the needs of the increasing population each year.
"Although the state government's manifesto previously promised 20,000 housing units would be built by the year 2018, this does not mean the state government would stop constructing affordable homes.
"The demand I believe will continue, because we have growing numbers of the population from time to time, there will always be a need for affordable homes in the state," he said.
Meanwhile, he said the state government via the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) intended to turn Meru Raya into an urban area with modern and the latest facilities.
