KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 -- A total of 119,933 units of houses underthe 1Malaysia Housing Project (PR1MA) have been approved for construction so far, involving 80 projects nationwide.
PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said of the total,40,000 units of the houses were already under construction, while theconstruction of the remaining units would begin anytime.
"The number includes the seven new projects to build 7,116 units of houses,which applications were recently closed," he told Bernama after opening the 33rdannual general meeting of the Federal Territories Malay Contractors Associationof Malaysia here today. The seven new projects are PR1MA@Alam Damai, Kuala Lumpur; PR1MA@Bandar MeruRaya, Perak; PR1MA@Kuala Ketil, Kedah; PR1MA@Sungai Petani 1, Kedah;PR1MA@Bandar Layangkasa, Johor; PR1MA@Terbrau, Johor; and PR1MA@Melaka Tengah 1. He said the application for houses under the seven projects was closed lastSunday and the drawing of lots was expected to be held soon.
Abdul Mutalib also reminded the public to be wary of persons impostering asPR1MA agents and offering PR1MA houses for certain fees. On PR1MA house application, he said only one application was needed becauseif the applicant failed in the drawing process of certain project, his or herapplication would still be valid for the next project. So far, he said 950,000 online applications had been received for PR1MAhouses.
The PR1MA project, which was mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib TunRazak, is aimed at providing the people affordable houses in strategic locationsnationwide. Each PR1MA house is priced between RM100,000 and RM400,000 and offered toMalaysian citizens with monthly household income of between RM2,500 andRM10,000. -- BERNAMA
