Emulate South Korea, Singapore In Building Affordable Houses - BNM Deputy Governor

Malaysia and Thailand agreed to have a joint business development on renewable energy projects in southern Thailand and northern Peninsular Malaysia in the form of technology-sharing cooperation.
In a statement, Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry said this was agreed upon after its minister, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, held a meeting with his counterpart, Gen Ananta-porn Kanja-narat.
The meeting was held in conjunction with the Sustainable Energy and Technology Asia 2016 that was held at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre yesterday, where Ongkili one of the key speakers.
Ongkili said during the meeting they also discussed joint feasibility study on renewable energy development in both countries, particularly wind, biomass, biogas and solar.
“The discussions also involved the possibility of bilateral import and export energy between the both countries,” he said.
The ministry said on the Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore (LTMS) Power Integration Project, both leaders, decided to strengthen their collaboration to ensure it could materialise by 2018.
“The project is supposed to serve as a pathfinder to enhance multilateral electricity trading beyond neighbouring borders to realising the ASEAN Power Grid project,” it said.
It involves a power transfer of up to 100 megawatt between Laos and Singapore through Thailand and Malaysia to be the pilot project.
Meanwhile, on the ASEAN Power Grid project, Ongkili said, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand were keen to work together to make it a success.
