Traffic mayhem at Pulau Indah as TNB power cable catches fire
PORT KLANG: Residents from Pulau Indah and motorists travelling from areas like Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya were caught in a massive gridlock near West Port.

This was due to a fire which broke out at a bridge connecting Pulau Indah to the mainland. The fire was said to have been caused by a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) cable, which is believed to have experienced a short circuit.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the incident took place around 5.30am.

He said firemen from Port Klang and Sungai Buloh were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation showed that a high voltage cable under the bridge, with 33 kilovolt (kv), belonging to TNB, bid caught fire.

As of 3.45pm, we have been trying our best to put out the blaze. We have closed one lane of traffic and opened a contra lane.

"Traffic has been diverted to a traffic light near the Boustead Cruise Centre and motorists can U-turn and head back using the SKVE highway," he said.
