The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar Monday on a technical correction after registering strong gains last week, dealer said.

At 9.08 am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.0700/0750 versus the US dollar from 4.0500/0560 on last Friday.

The local unit slid against the British pound to 5.8816/8904 from 5.8381/8475 and fell against the euro to 4.5885/5958 from 4.5611/5695.
